The Healing Touch of Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) is a healing art used for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki is a form of energy healing that can alleviate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual stress.

 

Reiki's purpose is to assist the body in its ongoing program for perfect health by seeking to balance areas of imbalance. It is well known that stress is a prominent factor in the reduction of this immune system's effectiveness. Disease is often the result of stress compromising the immune system. Dis-ease promotes disease.

Reiki's goal is to restore and maintain balance. Reiki is able to provide exactly what is needed on all levels. Reiki treatments work by dissolving or eliminating toxic energy and substances from many levels of one's being whether it is physical, emotional, or mental. Its non-invasive nature is conducive to working with any other type of treatment. 

Reiki is effective in treating many ailments and is currently used in many hospitals throughout the United States such as Sloan Kettering (rated number 6 in the country), Cedars-Sinai, John Hopkins and many others.

 

A typical Reiki treatment lasts 45 minutes to an hour. The client lies clothed on a massage table in a room conducive to the treatment.  Many describe the experience as a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through them with feelings of peace, warmth and well-being. Reiki is a safe, highly effective healing modality whose popularity is rapidly growing throughout the country.

Alternate nostril breathing, a type of pranayama, is incredibly simple yet has fantastic benefits, both immediate and long term.

 

Pranayama means "control of the breath" and there are several pranayama techniques. However I like this method because it's simple, very effective and you can do it anywhere.

Meditation 

Another way to reduce stress in your life is meditation. Meditation refers to a broad variety of practices that includes techniques designed to promote relaxation, build internal energy or life force (qi, ki, prana, etc.) and develop compassion, love, patience, generosity, and forgiveness.

A particularly ambitious form of meditation aims at effortlessly sustained single-pointed concentration meant to enable its practitioner to enjoy an indestructible sense of wellbeing while engaging in any life activity.
